🎵 🎄The Twelve Dreams of Christmas 🎄 🎵
About seven hundred centuries before the birth of the Child Jesus, Isaiah proclaimed the promise of salvation. (40:4-5) In 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr. echoed the prophecy with these words: “I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.” I believe in Isaiah’s prophecy and harbor the same dream as Dr. King.
In truth, I have twelve dreams this Christmas, and at the top of the list is peace on earth. I want to sing about the first day of Christmas when my True Love sent hope to every person and all of them drummed, piped, leaped, and danced in joy. What a glorious, midnight clear it would be if the Gracious King wrapped vouchers under trees for peace on the earth and goodwill to all.
I have a dream that there would be no need to tell it on the mountain, nor elsewhere, that Jesus Christ was born because there would be no one left to tell. Everyone would know that Mary’s Boy Child was born on Christmas Day. More importantly, all would believe that man and woman will live forevermore because of this day.
I have a dream that all who live would know that the great I Am saves sons and daughters. In my vision, the whole of creation sings the praises of the perfect Lamb. With truth and grace all on earth, those in fields, floods, rocks, hills, and plains, employ songs of joy and proclaim the wonders of His love.
I have a dream that I would literally hear angels on high sweetly singing and all of us in the mountains and seaside would echo joyous glorias in reply. (I wish we could sing through all four measures without losing our breath, too.) Hark! How triumphant it would be if all nations rose and joined the angelic hosts in proclaiming glory to the King.
I have a dream that all it would take to throw cares away are sweet silver bells. If only a mere medley of ding, dong, ding, dong would dispel anxiety and bring good cheer to the young, old, meek, and bold. I picture every sidewalk and country road filled with children laughing and people passing smile after smile because they hear a ring-a-ling of silver bells.
I have a dream that every night would be a holy night with brightly shining stars. In this dream, a thrill of hope reaches the weary world, and all souls fall on their knees and rejoice with each new and glorious morning. The night would be silent and all would be calm, except for the glorias and bells, of course.
I have a dream that everyone who looks up sees a solitary star shining in the east that gives continuous light both day and night. I pray that by the light of that star, wisdom follows us wherever we go. May we all remember that our Savior saves us from Satan’s power, frees us of dismay, and brings us rest and tidings of comfort and joy.
I have a dream that the little Lord Jesus would not be the only child without tears. I long for all dear children to be able to lay down their sweet heads and wake up without crying. I pray that Jesus blesses each child, holds them in His tender care, and fits them for heaven.
I have a dream that there would be no more greed, and that people would only want to bear gifts. They might traverse from afar and oh what a star of wonder that would be! Some would bring their finest gifts and others a simple rum-pum-pum-pum, but each offering would prompt a smile.
I have a dream that all people will come to believe that like a Christmas tree, God is unchanging and not only faithful when summer’s here, but also when it is cold and drear. I long for all people to understand that as holly bears prickles, Jesus once bore sharp thorns; as holly bears red berries, Jesus bled for sinners; and as holly bears bitter bark, Jesus tasted gall to redeem us. May all know in their hearts that as holly bears a white blossom, the Savior now bears a majestic crown.
I have a dream that everyone will see what I see, hear what I hear, and know what I know. I want the night wind to tell people everywhere about hope and salvation and they listen. In my dream, people pray for peace and the Father, the Child, and the Spirit of Love bring goodness and light.
I have a dream that every season will seem like the most wonderful time of the year. I envision the glory of the first Christmas long, long ago lingering past the yuletide season and hearts continuing to glow with good cheer. I can dream, and in my dreams, I am Christmasing every day because every day is a holiday.
Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas!!!
