Cold Winter Day Poem
War Grace
There is a battle inside me —
A dead dog, a single flea
the crown jewel, the Nobel laureate
One pure, pink rose
supported by its thorny stem
There is a battle inside me —
a blind eye, a deaf ear
full disclosure, total release
Befitting advice
peppered with sweet criticism
There is a battle inside me —
dull resistance, numb reflection
anxious foray, agitated conviction
Pendulum life
wrought with excess freedom
There is a battle inside me —
dubious resignation, wavering fortitude
bold stoicism, temperate discipline
Graceful warrior child
at odds with body, soul, mind and will
** 1 Samuel 24:14 inspired the second line of this poem.
